About this course

MSci in Biomedical Science, a biomedical science degree focused on laboratory investigations underpinning disease diagnosis and clinical management. Core topics include Statistics, Laboratory Techniques, Research Methods, Clinical Skills, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. The programme is accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science and is structured to align with Health and Care Professions Council educational standards. The first year covers core foundations through Anatomy and Physiology, Foundations of Biomedical Science, and Genetics and Biotechnology. The second year examines advanced physiological and diagnostic concepts via Biochemistry of Cellular Metabolism, Cellular Pathology and Medical Microbiology, and Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology and Transfusion Science. The third year explores investigative topics and pathology through Biosciences Research Project, Cancer Biology and Therapeutics, and Pathobiology. The final year involves an extended Biosciences Integrated Master's Research Project and offers optional modules such as Brain Disorders, Drug Development from Concept to Clinic, and Neglected Tropical Diseases.
