About this course
BEng Hons in Chemical Engineering is an undergraduate chemical engineering degree focused on the design and operation of chemical processes and systems. Core topics include Programming, Systems Design, Control Systems, Mathematical Modelling, Engineering Design, and Entrepreneurship. The first year is shared with all engineering students to build foundational knowledge, and the final year features a major group plant design project. The first year covers general engineering foundations through modules such as Applied Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Science, and Engineering Systems. The second year introduces chemical specialisation with modules including Chemical Engineering Design, Chemical Reaction Engineering, and Fluid Mechanics and Mass Transfer. The third year advances into specialised topics supported by modules such as Applied Reaction Engineering, Engineering Management and Entrepreneurship, and Process Dynamics and Control. The final year centres on the Chemical Engineering Project, allowing students to tackle comprehensive process design challenges.
