About this course

MEng Hons Chemical Engineering, a chemical engineering degree centred on the scientific principles of process design, thermodynamics, and manufacturing systems. Core topics include Programming, Systems Design, Control Systems, Mathematical Modelling, Project Management, and Engineering Design. The first year is shared across all engineering programmes, establishing foundational concepts before specialisation begins in the second year. The first year covers core principles through Applied Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Science, and Engineering Systems. The second year introduces specific technical studies via Chemical Engineering Design, Chemical Reaction Engineering, and Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer. The third year advances into complex applications with modules such as Applied Reaction Engineering, Process Dynamics and Control, and Sustainable Process Engineering, alongside a whole plant design project. The final year includes an Individual Project and an Industrial Consultancy team project, supplemented by optional modules including Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering, Control and Machine Learning, Electrochemical Engineering, Hydrogen Technologies and Fuel Cells, Interfacial Phenomena and Microfluidics, and Nuclear Fuels Engineering.
