About this course

BEng Hons in Chemical Engineering (Study Abroad), a chemical engineering degree centred on the design and development of chemical processes and sustainable engineering solutions. Core topics include Programming, Systems Design, Embedded Systems, Control Systems, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, Engineering Design, Communication & Writing, Critical & Analytical Thinking, Ethics & Professional Practice, and Entrepreneurship. The four-year programme features a shared first year with all engineering students and incorporates a year spent studying abroad at an approved international partner university during the third year. The first year covers foundational principles through Applied Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Science, Engineering Skills, Engineering Systems, Engineering Thermofluids, and Fundamental Engineering Mathematics. Year 2 introduces specialist chemical engineering concepts through modules such as Chemical Engineering Design, Chemical Engineering Practice, Chemical Reaction Engineering, Fluid Mechanics and Mass Transfer, Particle Technology & Separation Processes, and Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer. The third year is spent abroad at an international partner institution. The final year advances knowledge through Applied Reaction Engineering, Chemical Engineering Project, Engineering Management and Entrepreneurship, Process Dynamics and Control, and Sustainable Process Engineering, culminating in a comprehensive group plant design project.
