About this course

MEng Hons in Chemical Engineering (Study Abroad), a chemical engineering degree centred on the design and development of chemical processes and sustainable engineering solutions. Core topics include Programming, Systems Design, Embedded Systems, Control Systems, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, Project Management, Engineering Design, Communication & Writing, Critical & Analytical Thinking, Ethics & Professional Practice, Entrepreneurship, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. The first year is shared across all engineering disciplines to establish broad foundational knowledge before specialisation begins in the second year, and the programme incorporates an approved international study placement during the fourth year. The first year covers general principles through Applied Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Science, Engineering Skills, Engineering Systems, Engineering Thermofluids, and Fundamental Engineering Mathematics. The second year focuses on core chemical disciplines via modules such as Chemical Engineering Design, Chemical Engineering Practice, Chemical Reaction Engineering, Fluid Mechanics and Mass Transfer, Particle Technology & Separation Processes, and Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer. Third-year study advances into Applied Reaction Engineering, Chemical Engineering Project, Engineering Management and Entrepreneurship, Process Dynamics and Control, and Sustainable Process Engineering. The fourth year is spent abroad at an international partner institution. The final year comprises the Individual Project and Industrial Consultancy alongside optional choices that allow specialisation in Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering, Control and Machine Learning, Electrochemical Engineering, Hydrogen Technologies and Fuel Cells, Interfacial Phenomena and Microfluidics, or Nuclear Fuels Engineering.
