About this course
BA Hons in Criminology and Psychology, a degree in Psychology and Sociology that examines the psychological dimensions of criminal behaviour and the justice system. Core topics include Statistics, Research Methods, Fieldwork, Historical Research, Critical & Analytical Thinking, Human Behaviour. The curriculum combines theoretical perspectives from both disciplines with insights from research-active academic teams. The first year covers foundational concepts through compulsory modules such as Cognitive and Social Psychology, Developmental Psychology and Neuropsychology, Doing Criminology: How We Know About Crime, Explaining Criminology, and Exploring the Criminal Justice System, alongside optional choices like A Brief History of Crime and Criminology and Crime and Popular Culture. The second year progresses into specialised study with compulsory modules including Cognitive Psychology, Criminological Thought, Measuring Crime, Social Psychology, and Understanding Criminological Fieldwork, supported by options such as Cognitive Neuroscience, Contemporary Issues in Policing, Financial Crime, and Organised Crime.
