About this course

MSci Hons in Cyber Security (with Industrial Experience), a computer science degree focusing on digital system protection, threat mitigation, and secure software development. Core topics include Programming, Systems Design, Computer Architecture, Embedded Systems, Control Systems, Data Analysis, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, Research Methods, Project Management, Ethics & Professional Practice, Entrepreneurship, Human Behaviour, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, and Design & Creative Practice. Students undertake an individual project in the third year and complete a 10-week industrial placement alongside a final-year individual project in the fourth year. Following foundational studies in the first year through modules such as Designing Software Systems, Digital Systems, Fundamentals of Computer Science, and Software Development, the second year introduces applied methods via modules like Applied Security Methods, Cyber Security Group Project, HCI: Designing for People, Networks and Systems, and Secure Data and Systems. The third year advances into specialised topics with compulsory modules including Secure Artificial Intelligence, Secure Cyber Physical Systems, Secure Distributed Systems, and Third Year Project (Cyber Security). Optional modules across the programme span areas such as DevOps, Artificial Intelligence, Advanced Programming, and Embedded Systems, while the final year concludes with the Fourth Year Individual Project, Placement, and Research Methods & Innovation.
