About this course

BSc Hons in Earth and Environmental Science, an environmental science degree centred on geological processes, atmospheric systems, and human impacts on natural environments. Core topics include Programming, Data Analysis, Statistics, Laboratory Techniques, Research Methods, and Fieldwork. The course includes hands-on training through local and overseas fieldwork, culminating in a supervised independent research project during the final year. Throughout the first year, students establish grounding in core concepts through modules such as Atmosphere, Weather and Climate, Biodiversity and Global Change, and Geology. The second year progresses into specialised methods via Environmental Data Analysis and Visualisation, Environmental Field Skills, and Geologic Mapping, alongside optional modules covering topics like Glaciology and Soil Science. In the final year, students complete a compulsory Dissertation and Environmental Geophysics, while tailoring their studies through options spanning Climate Change, Sustainable Agriculture, and Volcanic Processes Field Course.
