About this course
BSc Hons in Ecology and Conservation (Study Abroad), a marine biology degree focused on the scientific study of ecosystems, biodiversity, and environmental protection strategies. Core topics include Data Analysis, Statistics, Research Methods, Fieldwork, Environmental Analysis, Critical & Analytical Thinking, Entrepreneurship, Human Behaviour, and Design & Creative Practice. Students spend the third year studying abroad at an approved international partner institution. The first year introduces foundational concepts through compulsory modules such as Biodiversity and Global Change, Ecology, Ecology Field and Data Skills, Evolutionary Biology, and Foundation Skills for LEC. The second year builds on this knowledge with core studies including Biological Research Design and Delivery, Ecology and Conservation, Ecology Field Skills, and Evolution. In the final year, students complete a compulsory Dissertation involving an independent research project alongside optional modules like Animal Behaviour, Coral Reef Ecology, Creative Geographies: Place, Space and the Geographies of Imagination, Eco-Innovation for Sustainable Development, Food and Agriculture in the 21st Century, Interdisciplinary Conservation Science, Marine Ecology Field Course, Political Ecology, Spatial Data Analysis, Sustainable Agriculture, and Tropical Ecology and Conservation Field Course.
