About this course

BSc Hons in Economics and Finance (Industry), an economics and accounting and finance degree combining the study of markets, financial systems and macroeconomic principles. Core topics include Financial Analysis, Accounting, Statistics, Data Analysis, Mathematical Modelling, Policy Analysis, Control Systems, Human Behaviour, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. The course includes an industry placement year in the third year, with previous students working at organisations such as IBM, Microsoft, Lloyds Bank, PwC and the Bank of England. The first year establishes fundamental theory through compulsory modules including Principles of Microeconomics, Principles of Macroeconomics, Foundations of Accounting, Foundations of Financial Markets, Securities and Institutions, and Mathematics and Statistics for Economics. The second year advances this knowledge with compulsory study in Microeconomic Analysis, Macroeconomic Analysis, Principles of Corporate Finance, and Principles of Econometrics with Professional Development, alongside optional choices such as Financial Time Series Analysis, Foundations of Asset Pricing, and Management Accounting and Information Systems. The final fourth year features core modules including Frontiers of Economics, Advanced Corporate Finance, and Global Macroeconomics and Policy.
