BSc Hons in Economics (Industry), an economics degree focused on the study of economic theory, markets, and quantitative analysis. Core topics include Programming, Data Analysis, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, Financial Analysis, Accounting, Policy Analysis, Critical & Analytical Thinking, Ethics & Professional Practice, Human Behaviour, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, and Global & Comparative Perspective. The course features an integrated industry placement year in the third year, allowing for the application of academic learning in a professional graduate-level environment. The first year covers core subjects through Principles of Microeconomics, Principles of Macroeconomics, Mathematics and Statistics for Economics, and Professional Development for Economics, alongside optional choices such as Computing for Business Decision Making. The second year advances quantitative and theoretical understanding via Microeconomic Analysis, Principles of Econometrics with Professional Development, and Macroeconomic Analysis, with options including Games and Strategic Behaviour. The final year involves advanced study through Frontiers of Economics, alongside optional modules covering specialist areas such as Public Policy Analysis, International Trade and Business, and Advanced Machine Learning for Data Mining.
