About this course

BEng Hons in Electronic and Electrical Engineering with Placement Year, an electrical and electronic engineering degree focused on the principles and applications of modern circuitry, power systems and digital technologies. Core topics include Programming, Circuit Design, Computer Architecture, Embedded Systems, Signal Processing, Microelectronics, Control Systems, Mathematical Modelling, Project Management, Critical & Analytical Thinking, and Entrepreneurship. The course features a shared first year with other engineering disciplines, and includes a professional placement year in industry prior to the final year. The first year covers the foundations through Applied Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Science, Engineering Skills, Engineering Systems, and Engineering Thermofluids. The second year shifts focus to specialized electrical and electronic content through modules such as Control and Robotics, Digital Electronics and Software, Electrical Circuits and Analogue Electronics, Electromagnetism and Communications, Electronics Materials and Manufacturing, and Power Engineering. The final year incorporates advanced technical study alongside an Individual Project. Representative final-year modules include Digital Signal Processing, Engineering Management and Entrepreneurship, High Frequency Circuit Engineering and Communications, and Power Electronics and Applications.
