About this course

BA Hons in English Literature and Creative Writing (Study Abroad), an English Literature and Creative Writing degree focusing on the study of literary texts alongside practical creative writing workshops. Core topics include Research Methods, Project Management, Critical & Analytical Thinking. The course includes a compulsory third year spent studying abroad at an international partner university. The first year introduces the subject through Literature in Time and Introduction to Creative Writing. The second year continues with Critical Theory, Developing Your Writing Practice, and Writing Fiction. Optional modules across the degree span areas such as poetry, playwriting, postcolonial literature, Victorian literature, and gothic and science fiction. The final year features the Advanced Creative Writing Workshop, and students may also complete an English Literature Dissertation through a programme of directed independent study.
