About this course

MSci Hons in Environmental Science, an environmental science degree examining natural environments and Earth processes. Core topics include Programming, Data Analysis, Statistics, Laboratory Techniques, Research Methods, Fieldwork, Environmental Analysis, Critical & Analytical Thinking, and Entrepreneurship. Students complete an independent dissertation project and an advanced Master's research project supervised by academic staff, with opportunities for fieldwork in the UK and overseas. The first year covers core subjects through modules such as Atmosphere, Weather and Climate, Biodiversity and Global Change, and Introduction to Practical Environmental Science. The second year introduces more advanced topics with modules including Atmospheric Science, Environmental Data Analysis and Visualisation, and Hydrology and Water Quality, alongside optional studies in Ecology and Conservation or Glaciology. Year 3 involves an independent dissertation alongside options such as Climate Change and Managing the Energy Transition. The final fourth year features an MSci Dissertation and advanced options including Environmental Impact Assessment, Geoinformatics, and Eco-innovation for Sustainable Development.
