About this course
BSc Hons in Finance (Industry), an accounting and finance degree centred on modern quantitative finance, financial markets, and advanced investment strategies. Core topics include Programming, Data Analysis, Statistics, Financial Analysis, Accounting, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. The four-year degree includes a full-year professional placement in a graduate-level role, providing direct integration between academic study and professional practice. Year one establishes core competencies through Mathematical Foundations for Finance, Foundations of Accounting, Foundations of Economics, and Data Visualisation with Python and R. The second year expands into quantitative methods and corporate principles via Econometrics for Finance, Financial Markets, Principles of Corporate Finance, and Financial Time Series Analysis. Year three is dedicated to a full-year work placement. The final year covers advanced concepts through Advanced Corporate Finance, Investments and Portfolio Management, Forecasting, Machine Learning and AI, and Advanced Investments using Machine Learning and AI, alongside a capstone project in Contemporary Issues in Accounting and Finance. Students can also select from optional modules such as Banking and Behavioural Finance, Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Level One, ESG, Climate and Energy Finance, and Fintech and Market Microstructure.
