About this course

BA Hons in Fine Art and Design, a Fine Art and Fashion Design degree merging fine art studio practice and contemporary design as equal disciplines. Core topics include Critical & Analytical Thinking, Design & Creative Practice, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, and Laboratory Techniques. Students benefit from working with external partners on live briefs and completing a final-year design consultancy project with a real client. The first year establishes fundamental concepts through modules such as Design Contexts, The Reflective Design Process, Visual Communication, and Art Histories and Contexts. Moving into the second year, students build on prior knowledge with Design Visualisation while selecting from optional modules like Speculative Design, Art Theories and Contexts, Creative Transformations, Interaction and Experience Design, and Design for Sustainability. The final year focuses on professional preparation through compulsory modules including Design Consultancy and Writing for the Arts, alongside optional choices such as Design Leadership, Writing for the Arts (extended), and Design Independent Project.
