About this course

BA Hons in Fine Art, a fine art degree centred on studio practice, contemporary visual culture, and theoretical investigation. Core topics include Research Methods, Critical & Analytical Thinking, Ethics & Professional Practice, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Design & Creative Practice, and Global & Comparative Perspective. Students have access to dedicated studio spaces twenty-four hours a day and participate in live collaborative projects with external arts organisations. The first year introduces foundational skills through modules such as Contemporary Art Practices, Creative Attention, and Art Histories and Contexts. The second year expands technical capabilities and theoretical frameworks through Expanded Art Practices, Art Theories and Contexts, and Creative Transformations. The final year focuses on independent professional development and culminates in the production of a body of practical work for a degree show, supported by modules such as Advanced Art Practices and Writing for the Arts. Optional modules allow students to explore diverse subjects ranging from digital media and film theory to literature and specialized studio techniques.
