About this course
BA Hons in History and Politics (Study Abroad), a politics and international relations and history degree grounded in the exploration of past events and contemporary political systems. Core topics include Data Analysis, Statistics, Research Methods, Policy Analysis, Historical Research, Critical & Analytical Thinking, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, and Global & Comparative Perspective. The course includes a third-year study abroad placement at an international partner university. In the first year, foundational studies are developed through compulsory modules such as Parties, Populism and Protest, Policy Lab, Controversy in History, and Modern Worlds. The second year examines theoretical frameworks and research practices through modules including Theories of Power and the State, Human and Environment, and Understanding Political Research. Students can also select from discovery modules such as Employability, Purpose and Social Impact, Global Challenges and Collaborative Solutions, and Taking an Idea and Making it Happen. The final year focuses on independent investigation via the Politics and International Relations Dissertation, alongside optional choices covering various global and historical themes.
