A level: AAB. This should include grade B in either French, German or Spanish. IB: 35 points overall with 16 points from the best 3 HL subjects. This should include 6 in HL French, German or Spanish.
About this course
MLang Hons in Languages and Global Cultures is an undergraduate degree in Modern Languages focusing on the intersection of linguistic proficiency, cultural contexts, and international affairs. Core topics include Data Analysis, Research Methods, Project Management, Critical & Analytical Thinking, Ethics & Professional Practice, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, and Global & Comparative Perspective. The programme incorporates an academic year abroad at a partner institution during the second year, alongside substantial independent research projects in both the third and final years. The first year establishes fundamental competencies through modules such as Languages and Global Cultures Now, Becoming Independent in Languages (CEFR B1/B2) 1, and Advancing in Languages (CEFR B2 / HSK 5) - 2. The second year is dedicated to the MLang Global Engagement Year Project abroad. The third year advances fluency through Becoming Proficient in Languages (CEFR C1/C2 / HSK 6/6) - 3 and the Global Cultures Independent Project, while offering optional modules such as Global Film Genres and Literature and Environment. The final year concludes with advanced study including Global Leadership and the MLang Independent Project, complemented by optional choices like Foundations of Language Teaching and Sciences and Cultures Lab.
