About this course
LLB Hons in Law with Politics (Placement Year), a politics and international relations and law degree centred on legal and political frameworks. Core topics include Statistics, Research Methods, Legal Analysis, Policy Analysis, Communication & Writing, Critical & Analytical Thinking, Ethics & Professional Practice, Design & Creative Practice, and Global & Comparative Perspective. The course includes a dedicated work placement year in the third year. The first year covers core legal and political foundations through modules such as Legal Systems and Sources, Legal Systems and Justice, Contract Law, Criminal Law, Public Law, and Parties, Populism and Protest. The second year examines advanced legal principles and political theories with compulsory modules including Tort Law, Land Law, Theories of Power and the State, and Understanding Political Research, alongside numerous optional choices such as Legal Tech and Innovation, Financial Crime, and Human Rights and Civil Liberties. Following the third-year work placement, the final year features core study in Equity and Trusts Law alongside a wide selection of optional modules covering areas such as Healthcare Law and Ethics, Environmental Law, Intellectual Property Law and Policy, Parliamentary Studies, and the opportunity to undertake a Law Dissertation.
