About this course

BA Hons in Linguistics (Study Abroad), an English Language and Linguistics degree focusing on human language structure, societal impact, and modern analytical techniques. Core topics include Programming, Statistics, Research Methods, Critical & Analytical Thinking, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. Students spend their third year studying abroad at an international partner university. The first year introduces foundational elements through core modules such as English in Use, Foundations of Language, Language in Mind and Society, and Linguistic Inquiry and Applications. The second year examines data-driven and spoken aspects of communication via Corpus Linguistics, Language and Society in a Data-Driven World, Sounds of the World's Languages, and Structures of the World's Languages. Optional modules across the course allow specialisation in areas such as forensic linguistics, psycholinguistics, computational approaches, and media language.
