About this course
BSc Hons in Mathematics and Statistics (Study Abroad), a mathematics and statistics degree focused on quantitative analysis and statistical theory. Core topics include programming, signal processing, data analysis, statistics, mathematical modelling, accounting, critical & analytical thinking, human behaviour, and artificial intelligence & machine learning. The third year is spent studying abroad at an approved international partner university. The first year establishes core foundations through modules such as Matrices and Calculus, Probability and Statistics, Logic and Discrete Mathematics, and Symmetry and Sequences, alongside optional choices in programming, economics, and physics. The second year advances core knowledge through Multivariate Probability and Statistics, Applied Data Science, Project Skills, Linear Algebra, and Real Analysis, complemented by optional subjects like Abstract Algebra and Intermediate Accounting and Finance. The final year deepens expertise with compulsory modules in Statistical Inference and Statistical Learning and Prediction, while allowing specialisation through options spanning medical statistics, financial mathematics, and stochastic processes.
