About this course
BSc Hons in Mathematics with Computer Science, a mathematics and computer science degree centred on quantitative and computational methods. Core topics include Programming, Systems Design, Computer Architecture, Embedded Systems, Signal Processing, and Control Systems. The three-year full-time undergraduate programme provides foundational training in both disciplines before allowing students to tailor their studies through numerous advanced options. The first year covers core foundations through Fundamentals of Computer Science, Logic and Discrete Mathematics, Matrices and Calculus, Probability and Statistics, Software Development, and Symmetry and Sequences. In the second year, students advance their knowledge with compulsory studies in Linear Algebra, Project Skills, and Secure Data and Systems, alongside optional choices such as Abstract Algebra, Applied Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Complex Analysis, Extended Reality, Internet Applications, Mathematics of Artificial Intelligence, Multivariate Probability and Statistics, and Real Analysis. The final year offers an extensive selection of optional modules spanning Commutative Algebra, Dynamic Modelling, Environmental Statistics, Graph Theory and Algorithms, Hilbert Spaces, Knots and Geometry, Linear Systems, Machine Learning, Mathematical Cryptography, Mathematical Finance, Mathematics of Generative Modelling, Medical Statistics, Metric Spaces and Topology, Statistical Inference, Stochastic Processes, Statistical Learning and Prediction, Advanced Programming, Computer Vision, Digital Health, Secure Distributed Systems, Natural Language Processing, Quantum Computing, Secure Artificial Intelligence, and Secure Cyber Physical Systems.
