About this course

BSc Hons in Mathematics with Philosophy (Study Abroad), a mathematics and philosophy degree centred on logical inquiry, abstract reasoning, and foundational philosophical questions. Core topics include Signal Processing, Data Analysis, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, Research Methods, Critical & Analytical Thinking, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. The four-year programme includes an integrated year spent studying abroad at an approved international partner university during the third year. The first year covers core foundations through History of Philosophy: Ideas that Shaped the West, Knowledge and Reality in a Complex World, Logic and Discrete Mathematics, Matrices and Calculus, Probability and Statistics, and Symmetry and Sequences. The second year advances mathematical and philosophical study through Complex Analysis, Linear Algebra, Real Analysis, and Real-world Dynamics, alongside optional modules such as Applied Philosophy: Decisions that Change the World, Continental Philosophy, Language, Communication and Knowledge, Mind, World and Science, and Philosophy Guided Project. In the final fourth year, students select from specialized advanced options including Commutative Algebra, Graph Theory and Algorithms, Hilbert Spaces, Knots and Geometry, Linear Systems, Mathematical Cryptography, Metric Spaces and Topology, Philosophy and Popular Culture, Philosophy For Times of Global Crisis, Philosophy Independent Project, Representation Theory, Questions at the Frontiers of Philosophy, and Textual Explorations in Philosophy.
