About this course

BEng Hons in Mechanical Engineering (Study Abroad), a mechanical engineering degree focused on mechanical systems, design principles, and international academic experience. Core topics include Programming, Systems Design, Embedded Systems, Control Systems, Mathematical Modelling, Project Management, Engineering Design, Critical & Analytical Thinking, and Entrepreneurship. The four-year programme features a shared first year with other engineering disciplines, a dedicated third year spent studying abroad at an approved international partner university, and an extended individual project in the final year. The first year builds fundamental knowledge through Applied Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Science, Engineering Skills, Engineering Systems, Engineering Thermofluids, and Fundamental Engineering Mathematics. Year 2 introduces specialised mechanical content through Control and Robotics, Engineering Materials, Engineering Mechanics, Fluid Mechanics and Mass Transfer, Machine Design, and Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer. Year 3 consists entirely of the Study Abroad placement. The final year deepens technical and professional expertise through Computer Aided Engineering, Dynamic Systems, Engineering Management and Entrepreneurship, Individual Project, and Product Design.
