About this course

MEng Hons in Mechanical Engineering (Study Abroad), a mechanical engineering degree centred on the design, analysis, and development of mechanical systems and machinery. Core topics include Programming, Systems Design, Embedded Systems, Control Systems, Data Analysis, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, Research Methods, Project Management, Engineering Design, Critical & Analytical Thinking, Entrepreneurship, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. The first year is shared across all engineering specialisations, and the fourth year is spent studying abroad at an approved international partner university. The first year covers the foundations through Applied Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Science, and Engineering Systems, providing a grounding in practical skills and physical principles. The second year shifts towards mechanical specialisation through Control and Robotics, Engineering Mechanics, and Machine Design. The third year builds advanced competence via Computer Aided Engineering, Dynamic Systems, and an Engineering Project carried out in multidisciplinary teams. The final fifth year includes an Individual Project and an Industrial Consultancy project, alongside optional choices such as Control and Machine Learning, Hydrogen Technologies and Fuel Cells, and Renewable Energy Systems.
