About this course

BEng Hons in Mechatronic Engineering (Study Abroad), an engineering and robotics engineering degree combining mechanical, electronic and computer engineering. Core topics include Programming, Systems Design, Circuit Design, Computer Architecture, Embedded Systems, Signal Processing, Microelectronics, Control Systems, Mathematical Modelling, Project Management, Critical & Analytical Thinking, and Entrepreneurship. The four-year programme begins with a shared first year across engineering disciplines, features an integrated year studying abroad at an approved international partner university in the third year, and culminates in a major individual project in the final year. The first year covers core principles through modules such as Applied Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Science, Engineering Skills, Engineering Systems, Engineering Thermofluids, and Fundamental Engineering Mathematics. The second year introduces specialist concepts via Control and Robotics, Digital Electronics and Software, Electrical Circuits and Analogue Electronics, Engineering Mechanics, Machine Design, and Power Engineering. Following the third-year international study placement, the final year advances technical knowledge through compulsory modules like Dynamic Systems, Engineering Management and Entrepreneurship, Individual Project, and Mechatronic Systems and Automation. Students can also tailor their studies in the final year by selecting from optional modules including Digital Signal Processing and Power Electronics and Applications.
