About this course

MEng Hons in Mechatronic Engineering (Study Abroad), a mechanical engineering and electrical and electronic engineering degree focused on the integration of mechanical, electronic and computer engineering systems. Core topics include Programming, Systems Design, Circuit Design, Computer Architecture, Embedded Systems, Signal Processing, Microelectronics, Control Systems, Data Analysis, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, Research Methods, Project Management, Critical & Analytical Thinking, Entrepreneurship, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. The five-year degree includes a shared first year with all engineering students and incorporates a year spent studying abroad at an approved international partner university during the fourth year. The first year covers foundational principles through Applied Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Science, Engineering Skills, Engineering Systems, Engineering Thermofluids, and Fundamental Engineering Mathematics. Year 2 introduces specialisation with compulsory modules such as Control and Robotics, Digital Electronics and Software, Electrical Circuits and Analogue Electronics, Engineering Mechanics, Machine Design, and Power Engineering. The third year advances into specialized study with modules including Dynamic Systems, Engineering Management and Entrepreneurship, Engineering Project, and Mechatronic Systems and Automation, alongside optional modules like Digital Signal Processing and Power Electronics and Applications. The final fifth year involves core advanced study through Control and Machine Learning, Individual Project, Industrial Consultancy, and Mechatronics and Control Engineering, with further specialisation available via optional modules including Advanced Embedded Systems and Electric Vehicles.
