About this course

BEng Hons in Mechatronic Engineering with Placement Year, an engineering and robotics engineering degree focusing on the integration of mechanical, electronic and computer systems. Core topics include Programming, Systems Design, Circuit Design, Computer Architecture, Embedded Systems, Signal Processing, Microelectronics, Control Systems, Mathematical Modelling, Project Management, Critical & Analytical Thinking, Entrepreneurship. The course features a shared first year across all engineering disciplines, a third-year industry placement, and a final-year individual project. The first year covers the foundations through Applied Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Science, Engineering Skills, Engineering Systems, Engineering Thermofluids, and Fundamental Engineering Mathematics. Year 2 introduces subject-specific focus via Control and Robotics, Digital Electronics and Software, Electrical Circuits and Analogue Electronics, Engineering Mechanics, Machine Design, and Power Engineering. Year 3 consists of a professional placement year in industry. The final year advances knowledge through Dynamic Systems, Engineering Management and Entrepreneurship, Individual Project, and Mechatronic Systems and Automation. Students can also choose from optional modules such as Digital Signal Processing and Power Electronics and Applications.
