About this course

BSc Hons in Neuroscience, a biomedical science degree focused on the biological and psychological aspects of the nervous system and brain function. Core topics include Laboratory Techniques, Research Methods, Psychological Assessment, Historical Research, Critical & Analytical Thinking, Human Behaviour, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. Teaching is delivered jointly by the departments of Psychology and Biomedical and Life Sciences. The first year establishes foundational knowledge through Anatomy and Physiology, Cognitive and Social Psychology, Developmental Psychology and Neuropsychology, and Foundations of Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Science. The second year progresses into specialized areas via Cognitive Neuroscience, Cognitive Psychology, Fundamentals of Neuroscience, and Pharmacology. The final year involves core study in Advanced Neuroscience - Circuits and Systems, Global Health Challenges, The Lying Brain: the Neuroscience of Hallucinations, Delusions, and Disorders of Consciousness, and the Biosciences Research Project. Students can further tailor their studies in the final year by selecting optional modules such as Advanced Drug Design and Development and Cognition: From Laboratory Research to Everyday Behaviour.
