About this course
MSci Hons in Neuroscience, a biomedical science degree centred on the study of the nervous system and brain function. Core topics include Statistics, Laboratory Techniques, Research Methods, Psychological Assessment, Historical Research, Clinical Skills, Critical & Analytical Thinking, Human Behaviour, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. Students complete independent research projects and can gain professional membership of the British Neuroscience Association during their studies. Throughout the four-year course, students build a broad grounding across biological and psychological disciplines. The first year establishes core knowledge through modules such as Anatomy and Physiology, Cognitive and Social Psychology, and Genetics and Biotechnology. The second year progresses into specialized study with Cognitive Neuroscience, Fundamentals of Neuroscience, and Pharmacology. In the third year, advanced coursework includes Advanced Neuroscience - Circuits and Systems, Biosciences Research Project, and Global Health Challenges, alongside optional modules like Advanced Drug Design and Development. The final fourth year features the Biosciences Integrated Master's Research Project and Brain Disorders, with further optional study in areas such as Emerging Therapeutics in Immunology.
