About this course
BEng Hons in Nuclear Engineering (Study Abroad), a chemical engineering degree centred on the design, application, and maintenance of nuclear energy systems and processes. Core topics include Programming, Systems Design, Circuit Design, Embedded Systems, Control Systems, Data Analysis, Mathematical Modelling, Project Management, Engineering Design, and Entrepreneurship. The four-year programme includes an assessed year spent studying abroad at an approved international partner university during the third year. The first year covers foundational engineering mathematics and science through compulsory modules such as Applied Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Science, Engineering Skills, Engineering Systems, Engineering Thermofluids, and Fundamental Engineering Mathematics. Year two introduces core nuclear subjects with modules including Engineering Materials, Fluid Mechanics and Mass Transfer, Nuclear Decommissioning and Disposal, Nuclear Engineering, Power Engineering, and Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer. After completing the third year abroad, the final fourth year delivers advanced study through compulsory modules such as Engineering Management and Entrepreneurship, Individual Project, Nuclear Medicine, Nuclear Monitoring and Protection, and Power Electronics and Applications.
