About this course

BSc Hons in Pharmaceutical Science, a pharmacology degree focused on the discovery, development, and application of medicines for human health and disease. Core topics include Laboratory Techniques, Research Methods, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. Practical training takes place in modern, research-grade teaching laboratories across biomedical, life sciences, and chemistry facilities. The first year establishes core scientific foundations through modules such as Fundamentals of Chemistry A, Introduction to Biosciences, and Molecules to Cells. The second year progresses into specialized concepts with Drug Design and Development, Organic Chemistry, and Pharmacology. The final year involves an independent Biosciences Research Project alongside advanced study modules like Advanced Drug Design and Development and Global Health Challenges. Students may also select optional modules, including Medicinal and Biological Applications of Organic Chemistry and Strategies in Chemical Synthesis.
