About this course

BSc Hons in Pharmaceutical Science (Placement Year), a pharmacology degree centered on the biological, chemical and medical aspects of drug development. Core topics include Laboratory Techniques, Research Methods, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. The course includes a dedicated industry placement year in the third year, and students pay twenty percent of the standard tuition fee during this placement period. The first year covers foundations through Foundations of Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Science, Fundamentals of Chemistry A, and Introduction to Biosciences. The second year progresses with Biochemistry of Cellular Metabolism, Drug Design and Development, and Practical and Laboratory Skills in Chemistry. The third year consists of a professional placement module. The final year includes Advanced Drug Design and Development, Biosciences Research Project, and Global Health Challenges, alongside optional modules such as Medicinal and Biological Applications of Organic Chemistry, Advanced Practical Skills in Chemistry, and Strategies in Chemical Synthesis. Students also complete an independent research project in their final year.
