About this course
BSc Hons in Pharmacology, a pharmacology degree focused on the scientific study of medicines, drug action, and their effects on living systems. Core topics include Laboratory Techniques, Research Methods, Clinical Skills, Critical & Analytical Thinking, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. The curriculum is aligned with the British Pharmacological Society core curriculum and features practical training in dedicated teaching laboratories. The first year covers the foundations through Anatomy and Physiology, Foundations of Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Science, and Introduction to Biosciences. The second year progresses to Biochemistry of Cellular Metabolism, Drug Design and Development, and Pharmacology, alongside optional modules such as Life Cycle of Proteins and Molecular Genetics. The final year includes Advanced Drug Design and Development, Global Health Challenges, and a compulsory Biosciences Research Project. Students can further tailor their studies through optional modules such as Bioinformatics, Biology of Ageing, and Cancer Biology and Therapeutics.
