About this course
MSci Hons in Pharmacology, a pharmacology degree focused on the discovery, development, and therapeutic application of medicines. Core topics include Statistics, Laboratory Techniques, Research Methods, Clinical Skills, Critical & Analytical Thinking, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. The four-year curriculum aligns with the core requirements of the British Pharmacological Society. The first year establishes foundations through Anatomy and Physiology, Foundations of Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Science, Genetics and Biotechnology, Introduction to Biosciences, Microbes, Pathogens and Immunity, and Molecules to Cells. The second year examines core areas such as Biochemistry of Cellular Metabolism, Cell and Developmental Biology, Drug Design and Development, Microbiology and Immunology, and Pharmacology, alongside optional choices like Life Cycle of Proteins and Molecular Genetics. The third year builds advanced knowledge through Advanced Drug Design and Development, Biosciences Research Project, and Global Health Challenges, with optional modules spanning Bioinformatics, Biology of Ageing, Cancer Biology and Therapeutics, Cell Signalling in Health and Disease, Ethics in Biomedicine, Medical Genetics and Clinical Immunology, and Pathobiology. The final fourth year features core advanced study including Biosciences Integrated Master's Research Project, Drug Development from Concept to Clinic, and Emerging Therapeutics in Immunology, alongside optional modules such as Brain Disorders, Cancer - Bench to Bedside, and Neglected Tropical Diseases.
