About this course
BSc Hons Physics (Study Abroad), a physics degree centred on the study of matter, energy, and fundamental physical laws. Core topics include Programming, Microelectronics, Data Analysis, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, Laboratory Techniques, Project Management, Communication & Writing, and Critical & Analytical Thinking. Students spend the third year studying abroad at an approved international partner university. The first year covers core foundations through modules such as The Physical Universe, Fields, Matter and Quantum Physics, Physics Skills, Experimental Physics, Mathematical Skills 1, and Mathematical Skills 2. The second year advances through Electromagnetism, Waves and Optics, Experimental Labs, Mathematical Techniques in Physics, Physics Modelling Project, Properties of Matter, and Quantum Mechanics and Atomic Physics. The fourth year features compulsory modules including Industrial Group Project, Physics Group Project, Problem Solving and Sustainability, and Relativity, Nuclear and Particle Physics. Students can also choose from optional modules covering topics such as Condensed Matter Physics, Cosmology, Foundations of Quantum Technology, Further Particle Physics, Low Temperature & Semiconductor Laboratory, Space Physics, and Teaching, Outreach and Public Engagement.
