About this course
BA Hons in Politics and International Relations (Study Abroad), a politics and international relations degree centred on the study of political systems, global governance, and international institutions. Core topics include Statistics, Research Methods, Policy Analysis, Historical Research, Communication & Writing, Critical & Analytical Thinking, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, and Global & Comparative Perspective. Students complete a third year studying abroad at an international partner university and conclude the course with a detailed independent research dissertation. The first year establishes core foundations through modules such as Origins and Foundations of International Relations, Parties, Populism and Protest, Global Governance and International Institutions, and Policy Lab. The second year examines shifting power dynamics with modules like Reshaping Global Order, Theories of Power and the State, and Understanding Political Research. Optional modules in various years allow students to explore specialist themes such as authoritarianism, political theory, global capitalism, and regional politics across the Middle East, Asia Pacific, Latin America, Africa, Russia, and China.
