About this course
BSc Hons Software Engineering (Study Abroad), a software engineering degree focusing on the design and development of computer systems and applications. Core topics include Programming, Systems Design, Computer Architecture, Embedded Systems, Data Analysis, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, Project Management, Engineering Design, Entrepreneurship, Human Behaviour, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Design & Creative Practice. Students spend the third year studying abroad at an approved international partner university. The first year covers foundations through compulsory modules such as Designing Software Systems, Digital Systems, Fundamentals of Computer Science, and Software Development, alongside optional choices in areas like DevOps and matrices. Year 2 advances into collaborative group work and system security with compulsory modules including HCI: Designing for People, Networks and Systems, Secure Data and Systems, and Software Engineering Studio I, while optional choices span artificial intelligence and extended reality. The final year concentrates on large-scale system creation and integration through compulsory modules like Software Engineering Studio II and Software Engineering Studio III. Optional modules in the final year allow study in subjects such as Advanced Programming, Computer Vision, and Embedded Systems.
