About this course
BSc Hons in Theoretical Physics with Mathematics (Study Abroad), a physics and mathematics degree centred on mathematical and computational approaches to physical theory. Core topics include Mathematical Modelling, Statistics, Signal Processing, Microelectronics, Laboratory Techniques, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. The third year is spent studying abroad at an approved international partner university. The first year covers the foundations through Matrices and Calculus, Multivariate Calculus, The Physical Universe, and Fields, Matter and Quantum Physics. The second year focuses on core subjects with modules including Real Analysis, Linear Algebra, Electromagnetism, Waves and Optics, and Quantum Mechanics and Atomic Physics. The fourth year features compulsory advanced study such as Field Theory in Quantum Mechanics, Relativity, Nuclear and Particle Physics, and the Theoretical Physics Group Project. Optional modules allow specialisation in areas such as Commutative Algebra, Cosmology, Condensed Matter Physics, and Graph Theory and Algorithms.
