About this course
BA in Ancient History and Philosophy, a history and classics and philosophy degree spanning classical civilisations and foundational philosophical inquiry. Core topics include Research Methods. The course culminates in independent study through projects such as the Major Research Project and the Independent Research Project in Philosophy, Religion or History of Science. The first year introduces foundational themes through modules including Greek Poets, How to do Philosophy and Ancient Lives. The second year builds competence with studies such as Evidence and Enquiry in Classics, Ancient Empires: Power and Control and How to Live Together: Topics in Political Philosophy. The final year focuses on advanced investigation and independent output, featuring modules such as Time, Space and Place in the Greek and Roman Worlds, Bioethics and Ancient Philosophy, alongside the compulsory major research work.
