About this course
MEng, BEng in Architectural Engineering, a civil engineering degree focusing on the design and construction of sustainable, energy-efficient buildings. Core topics include Engineering Design and Research Methods. The course is accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators and the Chartered Institution of Building Service Engineers, and features a shared first year with other civil engineering courses in the school. The first year covers core foundations through modules such as Structural Analysis and Design, Architecture and Sustainability, Materials, Water and Soils, and Engineering Mathematics and Modelling 1. The second year advances into specialized topics including Design Studio 2, Structural Design and Materials 1, Building Physics 1: Fundamental Principles, and Water Engineering and Geotechnics. Third-year study introduces modules like Individual Research Project 1, Building Physics 2: Services Design, and Design Studio 3.2, alongside optional choices such as Computational Methods for Civil Engineering. The final fourth year concludes with advanced modules including Design Studio 4.1, Management, Practice and Law, and Building Physics 3.
