About this course
BEng in Automotive Engineering, a robotics engineering degree focused on vehicle design, manufacturing, and mechanical systems. The course is accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. The first year establishes core engineering principles through modules such as Computers in Engineering Analysis, Design and Manufacture 1, Thermofluids 1, Solid Mechanics, Engineering Materials, and Engineering Mathematics. Year 2 advances this knowledge with Engineering Mechanics, Vibration and Control, Design and Manufacture 2, Economics and Management, Mechatronics and Measurement Systems, and Thermofluids 2. The final year involves an Individual Engineering Project alongside compulsory studies in Design of electric race car cooling system, Development of an optimised rear mounting frame for a formula student car, Future decarbonisation of transport: Propulsion system, Tribological performance of automotive braking systems, Automotive Propulsion Systems, Vehicle Design and Analysis, Additive Manufacturing, and Computational Fluid and Structural Mechanics.
