Entry requirements
A level: AAA BTEC: Applicants declaring a BTEC National Extended Diploma in Business or Enterprise and Entrepreneurship or Marketing must achieve Distinction* Distinction Distinction (an A-level is not required). IB: 35 points overall with 17 points from Higher Level subjects. Plus Mathematics can be met via a 5 at Standard Level or a 4 at Higher Level. English Language can be met via a 5 at Standard Level or Higher Level English A, or a 7 at Standard Level English B, or a 6 at Higher Level English B.
About this course
BSc in Banking and Finance, an accounting and finance degree centred on the theory and practice of modern banking and financial institutions. Core topics include Programming, Statistics, Research Methods, Financial Analysis, Accounting, Entrepreneurship, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. The course holds recognition as a Centre of Excellence by the Chartered Banker Institute. The first year introduces foundational concepts through compulsory modules such as Foundations of Banking, Foundations of Finance, Introduction to Financial Accounting, and Economic Theory and Applications for Finance. Moving into the second year, students study Banks and Banking Systems, Commercial Banking, Corporate Finance, and Financial Econometrics, with optional topics including Python Programming for Finance and Entrepreneurship in Theory and Practice. The final year focuses on advanced topics via compulsory modules like Investment Banking, Risk Management in Banking, Contemporary Issues in Banking, and Sustainable Banking, alongside a choice between a Dissertation for Accounting, Banking and Finance or Financial Analysis. Optional modules in the final year range from Private Equity and Behavioural Finance to Ethics of Artificial Intelligence.
