Entry requirements
A level: AAB (specific subject requirements) BTEC: BTEC extended diploma entry requirements: DDM plus A/B in A-level Biology or Chemistry. The preferred BTEC qualification subject is Applied Science (other subjects may be accepted). IB: 31 overall with 6,6,5 at higher level including Biology or Chemistry and another science or science-related subject.
About this course
BSc in Biological Sciences (Biotechnology with Enterprise), a biosciences degree combining molecular life sciences with business and enterprise studies. Core topics include Data Analysis, Research Methods, and Entrepreneurship. Students can apply for an optional industry placement year, and the programme offers a transition route to an integrated Masters degree. The first year covers the foundations through Introductory Skills in the Molecular Biosciences, The Basis of Life, and Starting Your Own Business, alongside microbiology and genetics. The second year progresses with Omics and Big Data Biology, New Enterprise Planning, and Food Security and Sustainability. The final year includes the Biotechnology Research Project, Advanced Skills in the Biological Sciences, and Enterprise Consultancy. Optional modules across the degree allow students to study areas such as social enterprise, cancer biology, and immunology.
