About this course
BSc in Chemistry and Mathematics, a chemistry and mathematics degree centred on analytical, theoretical and experimental approaches to scientific systems. Core topics include Data Analysis, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling. Students complete independent investigations through a project in mathematics alongside advanced laboratory work. The first year covers foundational principles through Introduction to Modern Chemistry, Chemistry in Action: Atoms, Molecules, Matter, Core Mathematics, and Probability and Statistics. The second year provides optional pathways across organic, inorganic and physical chemistry, as well as applied mathematics and statistics. The final year centres on compulsory practical training and independent research modules such as Project and Research Skills and Project in Mathematics, supplemented by further advanced options in chemistry and mathematical methods.
