About this course
MChem, BSc in Chemistry and Mathematics, a chemistry and mathematics degree centred on chemical science and quantitative reasoning. Core topics include Data Analysis, Statistics, and Mathematical Modelling. The course includes a final-year interdisciplinary project for Joint Honours. The first year covers foundational concepts through Introduction to Modern Chemistry, Chemistry in Action: Atoms, Molecules, Matter, Core Mathematics, and Probability and Statistics. The second year offers a selection of optional modules spanning chemical structures, practical methods, and mathematical techniques. The third year involves compulsory study in Advanced Chemistry Laboratory for Natural Science and Joint Honours, Project and Research Skills, and Project in Mathematics, alongside optional topics in advanced chemistry and applied mathematics. The fourth year centers on an interdisciplinary project for Joint Honours, complemented by advanced optional modules in chemical and mathematical disciplines.
