About this course
BSc in Chemistry with Artificial Intelligence (with Industrial Experience), a chemistry degree covering chemical principles alongside digital technology and automated methods. Core topics include Research Methods and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. Students complete a paid industrial placement year in a chemistry-based setting during the third year, and undertake a final-year research project. The first year covers foundational principles through compulsory modules such as Introduction to Modern Chemistry, Chemistry in Action: Atoms, Molecules, Matter, Fundamental Organic Chemistry for Biology and Synthesis, Chemistry of the Material World, Professional Skills for Chemistry with AI, and Introduction to Practical Chemistry and Research Skills. The second year focuses on core chemical theory via compulsory modules including Organic Chemistry: Structure, Reactions and the Science of Life, Molecules, Energy, Quanta and Change, Chemistry of Materials: What They Are and How We Know, Organometallics: From Bonding to Catalysis, and Molecular Signatures: Spectroscopy and Chromatography. The third year consists of the Industrial Experience Year. The final year includes the BSc Research Project, alongside optional modules covering topics in inorganic, materials, organic, bioorganic, interdisciplinary, physical, theoretical, and environmental chemistry.
Modules
- safely handle reagents/solvents and manipulate laboratory apparatus
