About this course

BA in Childhood Studies, an early childhood studies and education degree focusing on the lives, development and rights of children and young people. Core topics include Research Methods, Global & Comparative Perspective. Students complete a final year research project. The first year covers the foundations through Academic Practice at University, Psychological Approaches to Child Development and Education, and Children, Young People, Families and the State. The second year builds on this with Child Welfare, Health, Well-being, Childhood and Youth, and Psychological Approaches to Supporting Development and Learning. Optional modules in the second year allow study in areas such as Inclusive Education and Education Through Gaming & Play. The final year includes Children, Families and Cultural Diversity: Philosophical Perspectives and the Final Year Research Project.
