About this course
BEng in Civil and Environmental Engineering, a civil engineering degree focusing on infrastructure and environmental protection. Core topics include Engineering Design, Research Methods. This JBM-accredited degree shares a common first year across all School of Civil Engineering programmes, allowing students the flexibility to transfer courses at the end of the year. The first year covers core foundations through Architecture and Sustainability, Surveying, Construction Technology and Management, Structural Analysis and Design, and Materials, Water and Soils. Year two introduces compulsory modules such as Water Engineering and Geotechnics, Engineering Mathematics and Modelling 2, Integrated Design Project 2, Structural Design and Materials 1, and Sustainable Engineering Solutions, alongside optional modules including Transport Planning and Modelling 1, Highway Engineering, Building Physics 1: Fundamental Principles, and Data and Research Methods for Engineers. The final year comprises compulsory studies in Water Engineering and Geotechnics 2, Structural Design and Materials 2, Integrated Design Project 3, Individual Research Project 1, Wastewater Engineering, and Environmental Health Engineering in Developing Countries, culminating in a major research project.
